I got around to building v3 of the Airtable GTD tracker / dashboard template to share. Feel free to make a copy and get started!

I run my life on GTD and am a huge advocate for the framework.

For the past several years, I’ve recommended it to many friends. I built my GTD tracker / dashboard on Airtable, and have shared a template with them.

Leveraging Airtable’s feature, I can sync this workspace with my Google Calendar. I’ve configured the setup to receive a daily digest of my tasks via Email. It’s typically in my inbox by 5:30AM Pacific Time, so I get to see what I have due that day.

Seriously. I run my life on this framework!

Not sure how it works? Read more below.

The GTD framework

Here’s a 15 min primer article on GTD: https://hamberg.no/gtd

GTD—or “Getting things done”—is a framework created by David Allen for organizing and tracking your tasks and projects.

[0] Recurring task is my own modification to the framework.

Operating the framework is simple

Anytime I think of something I need to do on the go, I bring up the Airtable app on my phone, and add it to the list. Things like, pay vet bills, file FSA reimbursement, etc.

When I have a project that I want to tackle, I would create a Project and add a bunch of tasks to In, and pull in the immediate next steps to Next Action.

At the beginning of each week, I review the list.

Never forget a task

I am forgetful, but thanks to this framework, all the life TODOs become a breeze. I plan vacations, side projects, and manage work projects through GTD.

The first year I started doing this, was right before the 2018 Burning Man (I, Robot). I became a true believer, when I returned home after several days in the desert, and was able to pick up exactly where I left off. Without missing a beat!

Convinced? Click here to checkout the Airtable GTD tracker / dashboard template that I made. Make a copy. Enjoy!

Bonus: I added a couple of tasks in the Airtable template to help you get started, including setting up the Google Calendar sync.

Reading Habits

Dan Shipper wrote a post on managing his reading habits. It’s very interesting to see his approach. He used Evernote and some other tools to keep track of what he read and what to read next. I also talked to a few other people on how... Continue →
